In Quebec, the MD program is divided into two distinct portions. The first portion is preclerkship, which is followed byclerkship.
Preclerkship is a one year and a half to two years depending on the schools. Students learn the basis of medicine that will allow them to fully benefit from their later rotations in clinical settings. The MD training in Quebec also value early clinical exposure so to better prepare preclerkship students to their clinical training. Specific programs and teaching methods vary from one school to another. They include problem-based learning (PBL), lectures and dissection laboratores.
